Thank you for choosing something homemade. Every cutting board and every utensil we create is crafted from real hardwood built to be used and enjoyed for years to come. With just a little care, your piece will stay beautiful for years.

Everyday Care

  • Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap.
  • Dry immediately- don't let it soak or air-dry while wet.
  • Never place wooden items in the dishwasher.
  • Avoid leaving them in standing water or exposing them to extreme heat.

 

Keeping the Wood Nourished

Just like anything made from natural wood, your board or utensils will appreciate an occasional refresh. 

For a quick fix: When wood begins to look dry or dull, apply a coat of our K&B Wood Butter or a food-grade mineral oil. Let it soak in the wood for a few hours (or overnight), then buff away any excess with a clean cloth. 

For a deeper condition that will last longer: Preheat your oven to the lowest temperature (150F - 170F depending on your oven). Using a cookie sheet, put your items on it and place into the oven. Make sure they are completely dry for this, or they will crack with the sudden heat. Let them bake for 5 minutes or until warm to the touch. Put a good amount of K&B Wood Butter or Food-Grade Mineral Oil on each product and place back into the oven for 10 minutes. After the time is up, let them rest on the counter for an hour or two and then buff off excess with a clean cloth. 

This heating process allows the natural pores of the wood to expand allowing the oil to penetrate much deeper into the wood than it would at room temperature and allowing them to cool continues to help the wood absorb the oil as the natural pores close. 

Regular conditioning helps protect the wood, resist moisture, and bring out it's natural beauty.

 

A Few Natural Reminders

Because every piece is made from real hardwood, each one has it's own unique grain, color, and character. Over time, your board may develop small knife marks or slight changes in color-these are signs of a well-loved piece and part of the beauty of natural wood.
